Gloria (a.k.a., the Batwoman) is a wealthy, crime-solving, female wrestler. She is called to investigate a series of murdered wrestlers that are found floating in the ocean offshore from Acapulco. While the victims appear to have drowned, in each case, the contents of the victims pineal gland have been removed. Working with FBI agent Mario Robles, Gloria follows a trail of clues to the eccentric neurosurgeon, Dr. Eric Williams. Based on-board his floating laboratory, the Reptilicus, Williams is striving to create a gilled human by injecting small fish with the glandular extract. Subsequent exposure to radiation grows the resulting mutant to the donors size. He dreams of creating an army of Gill Men to take control of the worlds oceans. HIs experiments require one too many victims. He always uses wrestlers as donors because he wants his mutant full of vigor. Gloria and Mario start staking out the local wrestling gym, hoping to see the next victim being set up. It is easy for Gloria to blend in as she is a proficient wrestler herself. Once Williams has been identified as the perpetrator, the Batwoman steals aboard his boat. She is nearly apprehended. Now that Williams is aware of her being on his case, he uses his minions to try to capture her. Teenagers Reg, Skip, Julie and Pam go out for an afternoon of water skiing on a nice day. They come ashore on an island that is being used as a testing center for a scientist and agents from an eastern power. They seek to turn the people of the United States into easily controlled zombie like creatures. The agents steal Reg's boat, stranding the teens on the island. The four friends are then held captive in cages able only to speculate on their fate. Though they have already been testing the formula on convicts and drunks, the enemy scientist and agents plan to conduct final tests on the teens before they use it on the rest of America. Meanwhile, two of their friends, whom the captives had planned to meet later, search for their missing friends. Four adventurers descend to the depths of the ocean when the cable on their underwater diving bell snaps. The rest of their expedition, believing them to be lost, abandons hope of finding them. Exiting the diving bell, the party finds themselves in a network of underwater caverns. They encounter a shipwreck survivor. He tells them he has been there for 14 years and that there is no way out. The two men in the exploring party believe him only after a hike to a volcanic vent that supplies the caverns with oxygen. On the surface, Prof. Millard Wyman, the elder scientist who designed the original diving bell, decides to try again to explore the depths of the ocean. Dr. Aranya is experimenting with reciprocal transplants of pituitary glands between spiders and humans. He carries out his work in remote underground labs located on the Zarpa Mesa in the Mexican desert. He wants to create a master race of hybrid superwomen and spiders through his procedures. He invites Dr. Leland Masterton, a famous entomological scientist, to see his creations. Masterton is horrified and subsequently becomes the next candidate for experimentation. The techniques work better on females than males, and Masterton is released and is quickly institutionalized. More outsiders become involved with Dr. Aranya when a plane carrying wealthy financier Jan van Croft and his bride-to-be, Doreen Culbertson, crashes on the mesa. Also aboard is Masterton, who has forced the pilot to fly the plane despite its need of engine repairs. The survivors are captured in hopes of using them for additional experiments. Masterton, determined to put an end to the experimentation, mixes an explosive concoction and sends the pilot and Doreen down a side passage to escape.
