Chicago air traffic controller Jack Harris is a wreck with guilt nightmares after a major airplane crash that killed all 174 aboard. He gives up the job and designs air traffic control games in Phoenix. Five years later, his ex-colleague T.C. Bryant, also transferred to Phoenix, desperately asks him to help out short-term, given desperate staff shortage on New Years Eve with a bad storm predicted. A power outage hits, and the storm has caused their workload to multiply. Colleagues welcome him in very different states of mind but he quickly proves his capabilities, alas then the fatal memories start creeping up again: will his lack of self-confidence cause another drama? Karen McCanns eldest daughter is raped and murdered whilst on the phone with her. When the case against Robert Doob, the perpetrator, is dismissed because of a technicality, she starts following him and sees how he checks out his next victim, a woman he delivers groceries to. She tells the police, but is only warned she must stop following Doob. When she tries to warn the woman, she is shooed out of the house. Doob, having found out that Karen is following him, threatens to do something to her youngest daughter. She then seeks help from a group of vigilantes connected to a support group, in order to shoot Doob. However, a friend from the support group turns out to be an FBI agent investigating the very vigilante activity Karen is involved in and warns her that she will go to jail for the rest of her life unless it is self-defense. In the meantime, tension grows between Karen and her husband Mack, because he finds out she has secretly been taking self-defense classes and has been learning how to use a gun. When Doob makes another victim and is again released for lack of evidence, she finds a way to lure him into her house and kill him in self-defense. Written by gerd86

The film follows three tracks: Bankss slow recruitment of Bennie, the set-up for the hit at a swank resort in Mexico, and the FBIs close pursuit of Banks, whom they want alive in hopes hell rat out his bosses. ANOTHER MACROTIGER REVIEW : Rebecca De Mornay vehicle. Cop-film-noir films aren't really our bag. Music is sort of 1970s horror music and 1980s Michael Mann combo, until really bad funk enters during the handball game. Music completely falls about 30 minutes in to film. Acting is not bad. Rebecca De Mornay (40 or 41 here) still looks great seventeen years after Risky Business (1983). Dialogue and story are pretty bad. Camera : annoying camera jump cuts and white-outs and other camera conceits. Camera work is uneven . Some good scenes, very 1980s look. Some scenes don't work. Scenes of Rebecca De Mornay's character in bed with pet pig are a drag. Keiffer Sutherland fills the roll. Utah doesn't really look like NYC, but then again, its a low budget film. Too many close-ups.
