Hes in the Southwest, headed toward Mexico, when he picks up Bennie, a woman leaving an abusive marriage, going to Paradise, Arizona. The film follows three tracks: Bankss slow recruitment of Bennie, the set-up for the hit at a swank resort in Mexico, and the FBIs close pursuit of Banks, whom they want alive in hopes hell rat out his bosses. Heart problems force Boston cop Pally LaMarr to retire; he's in a funk and his wife Charlotte sends him packing. At Charlotte's insistence, Pally's half-brother Ray pays Pally a visit and suggests he buy a race horse to cheer up. Ray's always playing the angles, and he's got his eye on a horse that's cheap because it's been misdiagnosed. Ray knows the horse is a champion. Before they can win some money, a local mob boss, Frank Finnigan, sees the horse and steals it as payment for the gambling debt of Tony, a local jockey and single parent. ANOTHER MACROTIGER REVIEW : Rebecca De Mornay vehicle. Cop-film-noir films aren't really our bag. Music is sort of 1970s horror music and 1980s Michael Mann combo, until really bad funk enters during the handball game. Music completely falls about 30 minutes in to film. Acting is not bad. Rebecca De Mornay (40 or 41 here) still looks great seventeen years after Risky Business (1983). Dialogue and story are pretty bad. Camera : annoying camera jump cuts and white-outs and other camera conceits. Camera work is uneven . Some good scenes, very 1980s look. Some scenes don't work. Scenes of Rebecca De Mornay's character in bed with pet pig are a drag. Keiffer Sutherland fills the roll. Utah doesn't really look like NYC, but then again, its a low budget film. Too many close-ups.

Woody Allen plays Tex, a kosher butcher. Sharon Stone plays his unfaithful wife Candy. Tex catches Candy in the act and in a fit of rage he kills her. To conceal his crime he cuts up her body and buries it in the desert in New Mexico. However, when her hand surfaces, a blind woman trips over it and it restores her sight. The hand is then considered to be the "hand of the Virgin." Despite the churchs fallen priest objecting, the ambitious mayor of the town creates an international three-ring circus of miracle-seekers, TV crews, and born-again local prostitutes all interested in the hand. All of this goes on while Tex is desperately trying to recover the hand before the sheriff finds it and uses it as evidence against him. Written by Stevie

Jimmy is married to the abusive Frank, but she's building a nest egg so she can leave. For a year, she's been deaf as a result of one of his beatings. One night, he pushes her over the stairwell, and she ends up in the hospital. When a charred body in her husband's car is pulled from a pond, the cops want to talk to her, but she bolts for her sister's, loses her savings pass-book, and then learns someone has emptied her bank account. She's goes on the run, with the same cops on her trail, and eventually realizes Frank may not be dead. Bryant, also transferred to Phoenix, desperately asks him to help out short-term, given desperate staff shortage on New Years Eve with a bad storm predicted. A power outage hits, and the storm has caused their workload to multiply. Colleagues welcome him in very different states of mind but he quickly proves his capabilities, alas then the fatal memories start creeping up again: will his lack of self-confidence cause another drama?
