When Sub-Inspector Joseph Pinto finds that his foster son, Jai Dixit, sired by a deceased, re-formed gangster, has taken to crime, he arranges for his re-location to Melbourne, and has his name changed to Suraj Bhardwaj. Jai does re-locate there, and gets hired as a taxi-driver. He gets attracted to Suhani, much to the of her brother, Samarth, who wants her to marry Gurdaspur-based Romi Latti, who is also in Melbourne on a university scholarship. With mounting racially-motivated attacks and profiling (Curry Boy, Indian Curry) against Indian students, Samarth actively protests - but Jai refrains from doing so - even after Romi is badly beaten by Caucasian youth. The protest results in violence, and Samarth is arrested. On the day of his discharge, Jai is told by a stripper, Nicole, that plans are afoot to kill Samarth, and he decides to intervene. He does succeed and even accompanies Suhani to the Police Station to identify her brothers attackers. It is here that the police will find out about Jais background, forcing him and Suhani to go on the run; be blamed for planting a bomb in a bar; while unknown person(s) kill several inter-racial couples. Four friends: Kalim (Angad Bedi), Gautam (Neil Bhoopalam), Maya (Kangana Ranaut), and Abhay (Randeep Hooda), form a gang called the "Ungli" gang which fights against corruption prevailing in society. Their job is to target corrupt people and punish them in a unique manner. Due to increased popularity and their high-profile targets they are sought by Mumbai police department. Their case is the responsibility of ACP Ashok Kale (Sanjay Dutt) and inspector Nikhil Abhyankar (Emraan Hashmi). Nikhil disguises himself as a college student and joins the ungli gang with hidden motive of arresting them. But soon, his heart changes after learning the story of why the "Ungli" gang was formed. Meanwhile, Kale is compelled to seek help from the gang when Nikhil helps him expose the gangs greatest target, B.R. Dayal (Mahesh Manjrekar) and his son Anshuman. Kale instigates a sting operation against the Mumbai police and is successful in preventing his transfer. Kale thanks the "Ungli" gang and he assures them that the city wont need an "Ungli" gang as long as the administrations are running properly in accordance to public demands.

Karan (Sonu Sood) loves Sneha (Tanushree Dutta), but is too much of an introvert to ever express his feelings to her. Although Karans feelings are evident to many, he is content in just seeing Sneha smile, and never gathers the courage to tell her how he feels. Vicky (Emraan Hashmi) tries to talk him out of his relationship with Sneha, but Vicky assures him that this time, he is really in love with Sneha. Karans childhood friend.
