Through the influence of a relative, a hopeless railway employee is made stationmaster of the sleepy Irish station of Buggleskelly. In this British comedy, a professor travels up river in Africa to open schools. But his new pupils are not receptive and when the commander of the local base succumbs to malaria, he takes on his duties too. Aided by the crew of the boat he arrived on he starts collecting taxes from the locals!

Mismatched travelers are stranded overnight at a lonely rural railway station. They soon learn of a local superstition about a phantom train which is said to travel these parts at dead of night, carrying ghosts from a long-ago train wreck in the area. The travelers eventually get to the bottom of the things that go bump in the night. In between the scary bits, comedian Arthur Askey plays the gags with his vaudeville-style humor, to the constant irritation of his fellow passengers. Written by Neil Bridger

Frank Burdon (Sir Rex Harrison) is a new reporter on a small-town Scottish paper. Hes told to interview local politician William Gow (Cecil Parker), then left in charge of the paper overnight. He sees Gow being high-handed to a woman who cant afford to license her dog, and decides to run that story instead of the expected puff piece. Both are decent men, but a little too proud to back down, and the battle escalates into a criminal case. But at the same time, Burdon and Gows daughter Victoria (Vivien Leigh) are falling in love.
