Frank Johnson (Ross Elliott), sole witness to a gangland murder, goes into hiding and is trailed by Police Inspector Ferris (Robert Keith), on the theory that Frank is trying to escape from possible retaliation. Franks wife, Eleanor (Ann Sheridan), suspects he is actually running away from their unsuccessful marriage. Aided by a newspaperman, Danny Leggett (Dennis OKeefe), Eleanor sets out to locate her husband. The killer is also looking for him, and keeps close tabs on Eleanor. Written by Les Adams

Penniless, Joe Morgan has just arrived in Los Angeles looking for work. Through an acquaintance of sorts, Joe is able to get a menial job working for Frank Leonard, the impresario of a successful ice skating show starring his wife, Roberta Elva. Joe is able to make a name for himself in the organization and quickly rises through the ranks to a managerial position, second in charge. Joe is largely doing so in being attracted to Roberta, who initially rebuffs his advances but who eventually does succumb to them. What happens between the three of them is affected by how much Frank knows or believes he knows about what is going on between Joe and Roberta, and Joe's shady New York past catching up with him, part of that past which comes in the form of obsessive ex-girlfriend from Chicago, Ronnie. A Bank officer discovers a flaw in the U.S. extradition treaty with Brazil and decides to take advantage of it. On Friday, he steals a million dollars from the bank, knowing it won't be missed until the bank opens on the following Monday. He and his wife, who doesn't know what he has done, then take a flight to Brazil. After some difficulties, they get as far as New Orleans, where his wife discovers the reason for their flight and what he has done. She leaves him and returns home. He is now alone with his conscience, and doesn't know if he can get back and return the money to the bank's vault before the start of business on Monday. Written by Les Adams
